The RFL Supports Access Sport's Breaking Barriers Research Report

The RFL Supports Access Sport's Breaking Barriers Research Report

At The RFL, we support the ‘Breaking Barriers Research Report’ that explores disabled teenage girls' attitudes towards sport and exercise and underscores the RFL's dedication to making Rugby League a welcoming and accessible sport for all.

We are proud to have a longstanding partnership with Access Sport, aimed at enhancing inclusivity in sports. Together, we have worked on initiatives such as Tryz RL, a program designed to introduce Rugby League through Touch and Tag variations, accessible and enjoyable for disabled children and those with long-term health conditions.

Building on this foundation, The RFL is now supporting Access Sport’s latest endeavor - the Breaking Barriers Research Report. This new research, conducted in partnership with the Sweaty Betty Foundation, Women in Sport, and Nuffield Health, focuses on disabled teenage girls' attitudes towards sport and exercise.

It highlights the significant barriers they face and underscores the critical role of specialized opportunities and supportive coaching. Alongside the research, a practical toolkit will be released to aid community sport providers, funders, and policymakers in better engaging disabled teenage girls in sports.
