Don’t miss ‘The Future of England’ at York Sport Centre

Wheelchair Rugby League has been described as ‘one of the most eye-catching and awe-inspiring sports on the planet’ – and it’s coming to York on Sunday 26 May.

The best of England’s emerging talent will face off at The Arena at 2.45pm – the highlight of an action-packed event for all the family, which also includes a Youth Wheelchair RL festival in the morning and a midday match between York RLFC and Bradford Bulls.

Tickets for this Bank Holiday Weekend bonanza are available online now, priced from just £3 (concessions and £5 (adults). Free tickets are available to carers attending with a person with additional needs.

Wheelchair Rugby League has exploded in popularity since England’s dramatic, last-minute victory over France in the 2022 World Cup Final. Now, the architect of that famous victory, England head coach Tom Coyd, is in the process of unearthing the next generation of talent to take on the world.

Tom Coyd said: “Future world cup winners will be in action on Sunday 26 – they are the future of England. From the youth festival in the morning, through to the ‘Future of England’ match in the afternoon, and York versus Bradford Bulls in between, there’s so much for individuals and families to enjoy. It’s inclusive, it’s exciting and it’s not to be missed.

“For all those involved it’s a chance to gain experience at the next level, to showcase their skills and to enjoy the thrill of playing in front of a crowd. There’s nothing like it.

“My thanks go to our partners at York RLFC Foundation and York Sport for their fantastic support.”

‘The Future of England’ event takes place at The Arena, York Sport Centre, York YO10 5NA on Sunday 26 May. The youth (9-15yrs) festival starts at 10.30am and is free to enter, with tickets for York RLFC v Bradford Bulls (KO 12.45pm) and ‘The Future of England’ match (KO 2.45pm) available online now here.
