Betfred Women’s Super League Group Two finalists to be confirmed this Sunday

The Betfred Women’s Super League (BWSL) Group Two promotion finalists will be confirmed on Sunday (September 24), when Barrow Raiders, Bradford Bulls, Leigh Leopards and Salford Red Devils face one another in the play-offs after a thrilling end to the regular season.

Leigh Leopards began the final round of fixtures in the box seat for an automatic promotion place, but it was never going to be easy against third-placed Barrow – and Amanda Wilkinson’s Raiders gate-crashed the party at the Leigh Sports Village with a 14-12 win.

Barrow will now host Bradford Bulls at midday on Sunday – part one of a double-header at the Matt Johnson Prestige Stadium featuring the Betfred Championship fixture between the Raiders’ men’s team against York City Knights – the last fixture of the regular season. Form suggests a likely rematch with Leigh in the Promotion Play-Off Final – which will be played before the BWSL Grand Final on Sunday October 8. 

While Kieron Purtill’s Leopards have a second opportunity to secure promotion when they face Salford Red Devils at Twist Lane (KO 2pm), Featherstone Rovers can begin preparing to join the elite teams in 2024 after they secured automatic promotion through their 28-18 defeat of the Red Devils earlier this month. 

Tickets for Barrow Raiders double-header at the Matt Johnson Prestige Stadium are available to buy here and entry on the gate is reduced to £5 before midday. 

From 2024 the top tier will be an eight-team competition including the six clubs from Group One of the current BWSL – Huddersfield Giants, Leeds Rhinos, St Helens, Warrington Wolves, Wigan Warriors and York Valkyrie – plus the qualifiers from Group Two.
