Masters Veterans commemorate Remembrance Day with annual outing at Rochdale

Masters Veterans commemorate Remembrance Day with annual outing at Rochdale

With the vast amounts of military veterans within the Masters community, it is only fitting that Remembrance Day is chosen as the main event in the military calendar to be commemorated with a fixture.

38 military veterans from 16 clubs within the Masters community proudly made the journey to the home of Rochdale Masters and made the most of the opportunity to represent all three services in a fixture played in true Masters spirit.

Without certain individuals, these events don't happen. We'd like to express our gratitude to everybody at Rochdale Mayfield for the generous offer in once again hosting the event, Rochdale Hornets Sporting Foundation for providing funding via the Armed Forces Covenant Fund and Stag Sports, Revilo Automotive, Alexander Khan PLC, Roundel Decorating Services for their continuous support in providing the playing shirts and teamwear for every team.

All clothing worn by our veterans is available to purchase via www.stag-sports.com with a small percentage of sales going towards a military charity. Together, through shirt sales, sponsors, playing fees and generous donations, we raised over £1200 - a fantastic figure that we will proudly donate to the Royal British Legion.

The next planned veterans event will be its annual fixture to commemorate Armed Forces Day (25th/26th April 2023). Planning has already commenced with the veterans committee looking to showcase Masters Rugby League on the biggest stage, whilst having the opportunity to show our support to our Armed Forces community and give the day the respect it deserves.

If you're a veteran and want to get involved in any of our get togethers please contact Carl Abraham (Veterans Lead) on carl.abraham@hornetsrugbyleague.com or keep an eye on social media with regular information posted.
