England Under 19s to get their European Championship Underway

England Under 19s to get their European Championship Underway

Four years ago Mark Alban was playing football before being introduced to Rugby League at Haydock High School. From there he had a short spell with Blackbrook before moving on to Newton Storm and is now continuing to develop at Thatto Heath Crusaders. Later today he will represent the England Community Lions.
Speaking ahead of the first games in the European Under 19s Championship, he said, "I really enjoyed my time at Newton Storm and I owe them a lot. I feel that I'm improving every week at Thatto Heath Crusaders."
"Playing for England out here in Italy means a lot to me. We've been getting used to everything after arriving on Thursday and I feel well prepared."
The Championships this time around are to be played in a different format with seven competing nations after the withdrawal of Scotland.
Each country will play each other over six gruelling twenty-minute fixtures. This is a challenge that fires Mark.
"It's a big test. Not only will we be playing every other team in the tournament but we are going to be involved in a schedule that has gaps in it. That's going to be interesting - keeping focus and looking after ourselves when we aren't playing."
The full day will be streamed from 10am UK time at the following site: https://www.nprugby.it/campionato-europeo-rugby-league-under-19-diretta-streaming/
Here are the times you need for England's games:

  • England v Ireland 11.25 (10.25 UK)
  • Serbia v England 13.05 (12.05 UK)
  • England v Ukraine 13.55 (12.55 UK)
  • Italy v England 15.10 (14.10 UK)
  • France v England 18.00 (17.00 UK)
  • England v Wales 19.15  (18.15 UK)

The top four teams at the end of Saturday will progress to the semi-final stage, to be played on Tuesday 6th September with the remaining nations playing off for the Shield.
