Catalans Dragons have announced the signing of New Zealand International Dean Whare on a two-year deal which will keep him at the club until the end of the 2022 season.
Whare arrives from NRL side Penrith Panthers for whom he has made 130 appearances between 2013 and 2020. The 31-year-old has also previously represented Manly Sea Eagles.
The centre has earned 19 International caps for New Zealand featuring in the 2013 Rugby League World Cup Final at Old Trafford. Whare also appeared for the Kiwis in the 2015 Baskerville Shield series against England as well as the 2017 Rugby League World Cup.
On the move, Whare said: “I am very excited for the new opportunity to be joining the Catalans Dragons.
“I am looking forward to meeting the team and embracing the French culture. There are some exciting times ahead and I can’t wait to start.”
Catalans Dragons Head Coach, Steve McNamara, added: “Dean will be a great addition to our squad.
“He is an outstanding professional with great ethics, he will bring real quality and class to our attack whilst he is also a player who loves the tough defensive side of the game.”
