Hull FC earned a hard-fought 14-27 victory over Warrington Wolves to progress in the 2020 Betfred Super League Play-Offs.
The victory means that Andy Last’s Hull FC will now travel to the DW Stadium on Thursday 19th November to face Wigan Warriors for a place in the Betfred Super League Grand Final, which will be played at FC’s home of the KCOM Stadium.
Tries from Bureta Faraimo, Joe Cator, Tevita Satae and Jake Connor alongside an impressive display by Marc Sneyd with the boot sealed a first Betfred Super League Play-Off victory for Hull FC since a 2013 victory over Catalans Dragons.
The Black and Whites opened the scoring as Bureta Faraimo went over unchallenged following a smart move which saw Hull FC throw the ball right before coming back to the left-hand flank to create an overlap.
Warrington crossed for two tries inside five minutes to take the lead midway through the first half. Matty Ashton scored out wide before Anthony Gelling climbed highest for a cross-field kick and managed to fend off three Hull FC defenders to plant the ball down.
Hull FC would regain the advantage as the first half entered the closing stages. Joe Cator latched onto a low kick to score his first try of the season. Sneyd converted before adding a drop-goal in the final minute of the half to give FC a five-point lead at the break.
The Airlie Birds continued where they left off after the interval as Tevita Satae crashed over just three minutes into the second half. Warrington hit back ten minutes later as Blake Austin’s pass found Ashton to score his second of the evening.
Warrington pushed hard to find a try which would pull them back into the game but a Sneyd penalty goal with ten minutes remaining extended FC’s lead to seven points. The visitors wrapped up the game as Jake Connor stole the ball from Gareth Widdop inside Warrington’s in-goal area to score an unusual try.
