Superstar actor and world famous owner of South Sydney Rabbitohs Russell Crowe has sent a message to the people of St Helens in need at this difficult time.
In a short message posted on social media 'on behalf of my old mate Johnny Vegas,' Crowe implored the vulnerable, NHS staff, those self-isolating or those struggling to have food and medicine delivered to access a service set up by Blackbrook Rugby League Club and the Steve Prescott Foundation.
"G'day folks how are you doing? This is a message on behalf of my old mate Johnny Vegas," he began.
"If you're in the St Helens area and you're having trouble getting food deliveries from your local supermarket, if you're NHS staff, a key worker, elderly, isolating or vulnerable, call this number: 01744 881881.
"The Steve Prescott Foundation and the Blackbrook Rugby League Team have set up a delivery service and they can help you out. They can pick up your shopping and pick up your medicine.
"One of the delivery workers is going to be Johnny Vegas - so expect to lose every second or third biscuit!"
Players and coaches from Blackbrook have been on the road carrying out deliveries, while the Steve Prescott Foundation have brought in guests such as comedian Vegas and St Helens legend Tommy Martyn.
