The Midlands dispensed with the South East with relative ease in the opening game of the day. Isaac Greene struck after just four minutes, with Nathan Redmond converting before Ciaran Dean burrowed through from dummy half setting up an easy kick for Redmond. Brandon Whitaker got on the end of Redmond's grubbber to push Midlands further ahead, which Redmond also converted before he chased his own kick down to score and convert at the 22 minute mark.Max Ndambi broke the South East's duck with three minutes of the half remaining, which Chris Anderson failed to convert, but Redmond added a further goal to his tally kicking a buzzer beating penalty to make it 26-4 at the break.
It took ten minutes for James Amachree to trouble the scoreboard operator in the second half, this time with Ciaran Dean in charge of kicking duties, kicking the first of three successive shots on goal. Thomas Greenham barged over minutes later and Luke Shaw on picked up a superb offload on the hour mark. Ben Tatton gave the South East something smile about as broke free at the other end of the field, this time with Anderson finding his mark, but the final word went to Ben Foskett who was rewarded with a try having had two previous attempts rule out, although Dean missed the kick to make it 48-10.
