Jordan Johnstone to leave Widnes Vikings

Widnes Vikings have confirmed that Jordan Johnstone will leave the club at the end of the season to join Betfred Super League side Hull FC.

Johnstone has made 28 appearances for the Vikings in all competitions in 2019 and has helped the club earn a place at Wembley Stadium for the inaugural AB Sundecks 1895 Cup Final against Sheffield Eagles.

Johnstone said: “Widnes, as a club and a town, accepted me straight away when I moved down and gave me the opportunity to become the player that I am today.

“I feel like I have progressed massively as a rugby league player since arriving at the club, and I’ll forever be thankful to Widnes Vikings and everyone involved at the club for that.

“I’m a fully committed Widnes player until the end of the season, and I want to make sure I leave this club on a high, by helping us to winning at Wembley and then by ensuring the club’s safety in the Championship.”

Chief Executive of Widnes Vikings, Phil Funney said: “We are bitterly disappointed that Jordan is moving on from our club.  He has a brilliant personality and is maturing into an excellent player. Ever since his arrival at the club, Jordan has displayed a strong work ethic, toughness and shown immense pride in representing our club.”

Widnes Vikings are set to face Sheffield Eagles in the first-ever AB Sundecks 1895 Cup Final on Saturday 24th August at Wembley Stadium and you can purchase tickets for that game and the 2019 Coral Challenge Cup Final between St Helens and Warrington Wolves HERE.
