Batley Bulldogs are welcoming fans to their upcoming game against Sheffield Eagles – on Sunday June 16 – for FREE as they host their annual Jo Cox memorial game.
The event is in celebration of Jo Cox, the former MP for Batley and Spen who was murdered on June 16th 2016 – the game will mark the three-year anniversary of her passing.
There will be live music, kids rides and activities and the finale of the sporting heroes project involving Batley Boys and Batley Cricket. There will also be family-friendly bar areas open at The Fox’s Biscuits Stadium.
Batley had been in fine form until their defeat last weekend against Bradford having won five of their last seven fixtures before last week’s defeat. The Bulldogs have managed to pull themselves away from the relegation battle and but currently sit eight points outside the play-off places.
Sheffield started the season on fire but have struggled in recent weeks sliding down the table into 6thplace. The Eagles have suffered defeats to Halifax, Leigh, Toronto, Widnes and Featherstone but will be looking to re-find their form this weekend against the Bulldogs. Mark Aston’s men will be hopeful they can return to winning ways to keep themselves in the thick of the play-off race.
