Barrow Raiders, Sheffield Eagles and Widnes Vikings were the final three teams to book their places in the Quarter Finals of the AB Sundecks 1895 Cup on Wednesday evening.
Barrow earned a huge 50-6 victory over Bradford at Craven Park in a game which was broadcast live on Our League and Twitch. It was actually the Bulls who opened the scoring midway through the half thanks to Brandon Pickersgill and, despite Alec Susino’s try, Bradford led at the interval.
However, the Raiders would turn on the style after the break and run away with the game. Three tries inside the first ten minutes of the second half from Jono Smith, Brett Carter and Jarrad Stack put Barrow in control.
The Raiders’ rampant attack continued with Dan Toal going over before a long-range effort from Jake Spedding. Jamie Dallimore – who was instrumental in the victory – scored twice in the last five minutes either side of Deon Lewis Cross’ try.
Halifax couldn’t follow up their Coral Challenge Cup heroics with another surge on the cup front as they exited this year’s competition with defeat against Sheffield at Keighley’s Cougar Park.
The Eagles raced into a 20-0 lead inside the first 20 minutes with tries from Jason Crookes, Paddy Burns, Anthony Thackeray and Josh Guzdek. A score for Halifax only stopped Sheffield’s momentum temporarily as the Eagles crossed twice more through Ben Blackmore and Lewis Taylor before the break.

Aaron Brown, Ryan Millar and seconds for Blackmore and Crookes rounded off a dominant performance from Mark Aston’s men. Reece Chapman-Smith did score in the second half for Halifax, but it had no impact on proceedings.
Widnes narrowly edged out Featherstone at the Select Security Stadium to keep their hopes of a trip to Wembley alive. The Vikings went into a 16-0 lead with two tries from Jayden Hatton either side of a Joe Lyons score. Featherstone did get on the scoresheet just before half-time as Jack Ormondroyd went over.

Hatton would complete his hat-trick after 52 minutes to put Widnes firmly in control. Conor Carey’s try gave the Rovers hope but they couldn’t cross again until the closing stages when Morgan Punchard broke the Vikings defence but by then it was too little too late.
