Luke Robinson looks ahead to England Academy Tests

Luke Robinson looks ahead to England Academy Tests

Ex-Academy star to be part of Test series commentary team.

Luke Robinson, the former England half-back and hooker, will be a member of the Our League commentary team for both England Academy Tests against the Australian Schoolboys, coming up over the next fortnight.

Robinson has plenty of first-hand knowledge both of Academy internationals, and of the players involved in this year's series.

He was a member of the Great Britain Academy team who claimed an historic series victory over the Australian Schoolboys in 2002 under the coaching of the late Mike Gregory.

And, having recently moved into coaching, Robinson took charge of the Yorkshire Academy team who gave the Australians a real fright at Castleford last week.

"I'm really looking forward to the games," Robinson says.

"I've got great memories of playing at this level myself - I was lucky to be in the same team as so many good players, and we really enjoyed taking it to the Aussies.

"I tried to take that same attitude into our game against them with Yorkshire. We know the Aussies are good players, and you've got to respect them.

"But you've got to back yourselves against them, and I really thought the Yorkshire lads did that. I was proud of them actually, and I know the lads who have been picked for the England side this weekend will be looking forward to another shot."

Both England Academy matches against the Australian Schoolboys will be streamed exclusively live on Our League.
