Hundreds of young Rugby League players stepped out at St James' Park this weekend as part of the Dacia Magic Weekend.

Thanks to Sky Try, youngsters from all over the country got the chance to be flag bearers, player mascots and showcased their skills in half-time games.

Try Tag Rugby was also showcased at half time of the Hull Derby on Sunday with Manchester and Yorkshire drawing 2-all, while Percy Park Pirates and Yorkshire Thorns went head-to-head on Saturday - the Pirates winning 1-0 in a Play Touch Rugby League exhibition match.

England Universities stormed to a 42-4 win over New Zealand Students on Saturday.
The game was played as a curtain raiser to Featherstone Rovers' clash with Leigh Centurions at the LD Nutrition Stadium and the home side were in control from the off.
They led 18-0 at half time and pulled clear in the second period. Full report.

Coventry Bears and Newcastle University star Jason Bass received the prestigious Cec Thompson University Player of the Year Award, as Stephen Gibbs of Wakefield College and Halifax RLFC Reserves was named College Player of the Year.
And the University of Brighton's Dom Smith was awarded the Andrew Cudbertson Spirit of University and College Rugby League Award.

Following months of action, Girls Festivals and Boys semi-finals took place during May to decide who will be fighting it out for national glory.

Providing vital funds for clubs across the UK for a decade, Cash 4 Clubs is a sports funding scheme giving clubs the chance to apply for grants to improve facilities, purchase new equipment, gain coaching qualifications, and invest in the sustainability of their club.
They award grants of £500, £750 and £1000. However, to mark their tenth year they are awarding one special club £10,000 to do something extraordinary.
'Cash4Clubs' will run until August 6, 2018 and winners will be contacted in September.
