Huddersfield Giants put an end to their recent poor run with a hard-fought 14-12 win at Wakefield Trinity on Thursday night.
Ian Watson's side had gone three league games without a win but snapped that record with their first win at Wakefield since 2015.
Wakefield were firmly on top early on and got their reward as Mason Lino scored a try after 16 minutes, he converted for a 6-0 lead.
The Giants struck back through prolific back rower Chris McQueen shortly after, Olly Russell missing the kick to leave the visitors 6-4 up.
As chances came and went with half time approaching, it took and off-the-cuff play to break the game open again seconds before the half time hooter - the impressive Lewis Murphy dived over following some slick interplay in midfield. Lino added the extras and Wakefield led 12-4 at half time.
But Huddersfield stirred in the second period. The industrious Luke Yates went in after 46 minutes, Russell goaling to reduce the deficit to 12-10.
Wakefield did hold on to their advantage for a period, but in-form Ricky Leutele struck on 65 minutes to put the visitors 14-12 ahead.
The Giants then ground out the final stages and clung to a crucial win despite Wakefied's best efforts, moving them up to fourth in the table.
