Featherstone return to the top with victory at Bradford

Featherstone return to the top with victory at Bradford

Featherstone Rovers returned to the top of the Betfred Championship table following a hard-fought 18-32 victory over Bradford Bulls at Odsal Stadium, live on Premier Sports.

Ben Hellewell scored a double for the Rovers in the first half ensuring Brian McDermott’s side went into the break with a 6-12 lead after originally trailing thanks to Elliot Hall’s effort after just seven minutes.

Bradford took advantage of a Featherstone mistake just after the interval with David Foggin-Johnston picking up the ball and scoring out wide. Jordan Lilley’s conversion levelled the scores for the second time in the game.

Although the scores didn’t remain level for long as Mark Kheirallah was the benefactor from a smart Jesse Sene-Lefao offload. Ryley Jacks would slice through the Bradford line minutes later to further the visitors lead.

Jacks would double his tally for the evening following a last-ditch offload from Jack Bussey which kept the play alive for Rovers. Bradford hit back through AJ Wallace to narrow the deficit to ten points with eight minutes remaining.

However, Featherstone would confirm victory in the closing stages as Jacks pounced on a low kick to complete his second half hat-trick.
