England stars to do battle in Betfred Super League Rivals Round

A number of the England Men’s squad will go head-to-head this weekend, with even more on the line as part of Betfred Super League’s Rivals Round!

Rivals Round sees several incredible matches lined up which offer up some intriguing battles between England teammates.

With a mid-season international against the Combined Nations All Stars

Catalans Dragons v Toulouse Olympique – Thursday 14 April, 7:30pm – live on Sky Sports

Rivals Round gets underway on Thursday evening with the first-ever all-French affair in the Betfred Super League.

After failing to score in his first five appearances this season, England winger Tom Davies has found some form in recent weeks crossing against Huddersfield Giants in the league before notching in the Betfred Challenge Cup versus St Helens, albeit both games ended in defeat.

Sam Tomkins will miss out after picking up an injury in the Dragons defeat to Saints last Saturday.

Wakefield Trinity v Castleford Tigers – Thursday 14 April, 7:45pm

Rivals Round continues with a classic rivalry as Wakefield Trinity welcome Castleford Tigers and there could be England internationals featuring for both sides.

Reece Lyne is Wakefield’s only current representative in the England squad, and he was on the scoresheet last time out in the league for Trinity as they overcame Salford Red Devils a fortnight ago.

For the Tigers, England duo Niall Evalds and Paul McShane are both set for action. Evalds returns to league action for the first time since a try-scoring appearance in victory over Toulouse while McShane continues his run of being ever-present in 2022.

Leeds Rhinos v Huddersfield Giants – Thursday 14 April, 8pm

Mikolaj Oledzki and Kruise Leeming are both named in the Leeds squad to face West Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield. Both last featured in the __ defeat to St Helens on April 1.

Jermaine McGillvary could be set to return to the Giants side after missing out in their 24-16 Betfred Challenge Cup victory over Hull FC last Saturday. The winger has scored three Betfred Super League tries in six outings so far this season.

Warrington Wolves v Salford Red Devils – Thursday 14 April, 8pm

Warrington Wolves England contingent will be hoping to inspire them to victory on Thursday evening and end a five-game losing run in all competitions.

Daryl Clark, Mike Cooper and Stefan Ratchford are all named in Daryl Powell’s squad however influential halfback George Williams is sidelined with a minor injury.

Salford Red Devils sole England squad member Dan Sarginson remains out with a long-term injury.

Hull KR v Hull FC – Friday 15 April, 12:30pm – live on Sky Sports

The Hull Derby gets proceedings underway on Good Friday and Hull KR’s main threat will come in the form of veteran winger Ryan Hall.

Hall has scored four tries in Betfred Super League this season including a crucial brace in the Robins most recent league victory over Warrington Wolves.

England Men’s all-time top try-scorer was also on the scoresheet in the KR’s 34-10 win over Castleford Tigers in the Betfred Challenge Cup last weekend.

St Helens v Wigan Warriors – Friday 15 April – live on Sky Sports

The final fixture of Betfred Super League’s Rivals Round will see St Helens welcome Wigan Warriors in a top of the table clash which has more England involvement than any other fixture over the weekend.

A total of ten England squad members across both sides could take to the field at the Totally Wicked Stadium on Friday afternoon.

England stars Tommy Makinson, Lewis Dodd, Morgan Knowles and Jack Welsby were all on the scoresheet for St Helens last weekend against Catalans Dragons and will be looking to extend their winning run.

Liam Farrell comes into the game on the back of a Player of the Match performance in the Betfred Challenge Cup victory over Wakefield Trinity while John Bateman aims to maintain his record as an ever-present this season.
