Report: Dewsbury Rams 10-36 Widnes Vikings

Report: Dewsbury Rams 10-36 Widnes Vikings

Widnes Vikings scored 24 second half points without reply to record a fine 36-10 win at Dewsbury Rams and make it four wins from four at the start of the new Betfred Championship season.

In a hard-fought first half in front of the Premier Sports cameras, Widnes led 12-10 at the interval before clicking through the gears in an impressive second period.

Lloyd Roby kicked off the scoring for Widnes on seven minutes, Steve Tyrer kicking the first of six goals from six attempts for a 6-0 lead.

Dewsbury's Harry Kidd struck back on 23 minutes, Matty Beharrell levelling with the boot, before Roby struck again for a 12-6 lead after half an hour.

The Rams did hit back soon after, Keenen Tomlinson bagging an unconverted try to leave the hosts 12-10 down, which is how it stayed at the interval.

That was as good as things got for the hard-working Rams however as Widnes ran in four converted second-half tries to secure the points.

Brad Holroyd was first to go in on 45 minutes, before Tyler Dupree went in on the hour to pull Widnes into the distance.

Then Joe Lyons and Adam Lawton scored a try each in the final ten minutes to give a lop-sided look to the scoreline and seal a 36-10 victory on the road.
