Wigan come out on top in Stefan Ratchford's Testimonial

Wigan Warriors came out on top against Warrington Wolves in Stefan Ratchford’s Testimonial Fixture at the Halliwell Jones Stadium on Saturday evening.

Jai Field – who missed almost the entire 2021 season – crossed for a double for the Warriors while a returning Iain Thornley was also on the scoresheet. Matty Ashton notched Warrington’s only try of the game.

Wigan broke the deadlock just after the midway point of the first half as Kai Pearce Paul broke free before finding Australian Field in support. The Warriors extended their lead ten minutes later as Thornley went over in the corner.

After trailing 0-10 at half-time, Warrington came out after the interval stronger, and Ashton soon found his way over with Ratchford adding the conversion in his Testimonial game.

However, Matty Peet’s men soon restored their lead as Field grabbed his second of the game just before the hour-mark.

Warrington pushed hard towards the end as Wigan’s Kaide Ellis was sent to the sin-bin but Daryl Powell’s side failed to score.
