Rugby League heads to the east Yorkshire seaside on Saturday (25 September) when X-League touches down on Bridlington beach – the first time this variation of the game will be played on sand.
X-League is a fast-paced, all-action, limited contact variation of the game – part of the RFL social Rugby League offer which also includes Masters RL, Try Tag Rugby and Touch RL.
Teams from all over the country – including some surprise former professionals among their ranks – will head to Bridlington for the first of what organisers hope will become an annual event.
The action gets underway at 12noon, with the Mayor of Bridlington, Councillor Liam Dealtry, expected to make the trophy presentation at 5pm.â€
Attendance is free, with X-League organisers asking only for a donation towards the Bridlington Lifeboat.
Earlier this year hundreds of community clubs used X-League to prepare for a return to full contact Rugby League. X-League, though, is proving increasingly popular in its own right, with clubs up and running across England, from York in the north to Brighton in the south.
X-League has an authentic Rugby League feel, with the focus on participation and fun. People of all levels of fitness, experience and skill can play together and so it is a great add-on at community clubs for boosting membership and activity.
