Leeds Rhinos will defend the Betfred Wheelchair Challenge Cup title they won for the first time two years ago when they face the Dartford-based Argonauts in the 2021 Final at the English Institute of Sport, Sheffield on Sunday, August 15.
The contest, which pits a host of England stars against eachother, will kick off at 12.30pm and set to be shown live on BBC Sport online. Tickets will also be on sale at the venue on the day.
To reach this stage, Leeds Rhinos were unbeaten in five qualifying matches involving all six teams from the Wheelchair Super League, with North Wales Crusaders lending the Argonauts a helping hand in their quest for a final place.
A 6-6 draw with the Argonauts had left reigning Super League champions Halifax Panthers needing to score 35 points in their last match against the Crusaders to reach the final themselves, only to be restricted to a 26-14 win.
Leeds, Challenge Cup winners for the first time in 2019, defeated the Argonauts 16-6 during the qualifying stages and confirmed their final place with a 24-0 win against Leyland.
Currently sitting top of the Wheelchair Super League table, the Rhinos are chasing a second-successive league and cup double.
The final will feature players who represented England in this season’s international against Wales, including Leeds Rhinos' Josh Butler, Nathan Collins, Tom Halliwell and James Simpson, and the Argonauts’ Joe Coyd and Lewis King.
Wheelchair Rugby League is one of the most exciting variations of Rugby League and fans are encouraged to purchase tickets for the event.
Tickets, priced £10 adults and £5 concessions, will be on sale on matchday at the EIS office from 9am. Doors open at 11.30am. There are no advance ticket sales.
The wheelchair game is an adaptation of the running game, whose participants include physically disabled and non-disabled athletes.
