Peteru facing three months out with bicep problem

Peteru facing three months out with bicep problem

Leeds Rhinos prop Nathaniel Peteru is facing another lengthy spell out of the game as the reigning Betfred Super League champions' injury problems worsen.

Twenty-four hours after Rhinos skipper Kallum Watkins was ruled out for the season with a knee ligament injury, Peteru was told he will miss the next 10 to 12 weeks with a bicep tendon rupture.

The unfortunate former Gold Coast forward missed 12 matches earlier in the season after damaging the bicep in his other arm on his debut at Warrington Wolves in February.

Jamie Jones-Buchanan will be out for six to eight weeks to have a clear-out operation on his knee, and Leeds also have doubts over Joel Moon, Carl Ablett, Matt Parcell, Stevie Ward, Brett Delaney and Jack Walker for Saturday's game against Catalans Dragons in Perpignan.

And scrum-half Richie Myler, who joined the club from the Dragons at the end of last season, will need to be assessed following a head knock.

Leeds were already without Liam Sutcliffe (foot), Mitch Garbutt (knee) and Brad Singleton (hand) while Anthony Mullally remains suspended.

The Rhinos have acted to alleviate their injury problems by recalling centre or second rower Jimmy Keinhorst from his loan spell at Widnes Vikings, and can call on several players currently playing on dual-registration with Featherstone Rovers.
