Last weekend saw another shock unfold as Normanton Knights suffered their first defeat of the season - here we see if the Knights could bounce back this time around along with the best of the rest from the weekend's NCL action. .
Premier Division | Normanton Knights 14-22 Siddal
After being thumped 34-0 at West Hull last time out, Normanton Knights crashed to their second-successive defeat as Siddal ran out 22-14 winners from a fierce encounter at Queen Elizabeth Drive.
The hosts raced into a 10-0 lead as Lee Hammond crossed over before Connor Taylor touched down and converted his own effort.
Siddal turned the game on its head as Lewis Hosty, Sam Walsh and Gareth English crossed over whilst Gareth Blackburn landed the first of three goals.
The Knights set up a tense finish as Hammond powered over for his second but Siddal weren’t to be denied as Ben Hinsley surged over the line before Blackburn added two further goals to seal an invaluable victory.
Division 1 | Shaw Cross Sharks 0-44 Skirlaugh
Skirlaugh earned only their second win of 2018 in style after pummelling Division 1 strugglers Shaw Cross Sharks 44-0 at Leeds Road.
Michael Johnson’s brace alongside further efforts from Matthew Harling, Callum King, David Wilson, Carl Puckering, Bradley Graham and Sam Heppell ensured the visitors cruised to victory.
Reece Dean landed five goals for Skirlaugh whilst Puckering added a further two points - the East Riding side entertain York Acorn in their next fixture and will now head into the tie full of confidence.
Division 2 | Dewsbury Moor Maroons 14-12 Wigan St Judes
Dewsbury Moor Maroons leapfrogged Wigan St Judes to move up to third in the Division 2 table with a thrilling 14-12 triumph.
After first-half scores from Jacob Flathers and Benjamin Jones meant the scores were tied 6-all at the break, Aiden Ineson landed the second of his three goals to give the Maroons a slight advantage.
However, St Judes responded and found themselves in front as Joseph Brady dived over before Ben Fisher duly added the extras for the second occasion.
Dewsbury regrouped though and completed a dramatic comeback as Luke Adamson touched down near the posts before Ineson added the extras to secure a late victory.
Division 3 | Oldham St Annes 70-16 Stanley Rangers
Oldham St Annes bounced back from last week’s defeat to Dewsbury Celtic with a resounding 70-16 demolition of Stanley Rangers at Higginshaw Road.
The visitors did claim three tries through Lee Alderson, Jack Gordon and Jordan Walker but the hosts were far too strong and secured a huge win as Kieran McGinnity, Matthew Whitehead, Callum Cashin, and Patrick Fitzsimmons all earned a brace apiece.
Jaimie Dalloway, Sam Sykes, Craig Basnett and Robert Charles also crossed as the Saints ran in an astounding 12 tries whilst Whitehead also added 11 goals to place further misery upon a deflated Stanley side.
