One of the most explosive teams in Super League, Wakefield Trinity once again defied the odds as they enjoyed another memorable season.
With a frighteningly quick set of backs with the likes of Mason Caton-Brown, Ben Jones-Bishop and Bill Tupou, they have proved to be one of the most exciting teams to watch this year.
Many were wondering whether 2016’s strong campaign was just a flash in the pan but Chris Chester once again proved his worth as he almost led his side to a play-off finish.

Despite back-to-back defeats at the start of the season, Trin came out fighting to win five of the next six before a few weeks later embarking on a seven-game winning streak which first saw them climb into the top four.
There was no repeat of a run in the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup after their semi-final exploits in 2016, as they went down to Salford Red Devils in the quarter-finals.
The downfall to their 2016 season came in the Super 8s as Wakefield lost all seven of their games, however there was to be no slump this year.

Victories over Leeds Rhinos and Salford kept them in the running for a semi-final spot however a late defeat to St Helens left qualification slipping out of their hands.
A drop goal defeat to Hull FC the following week left them relying on other teams in the hope of making the top four and other sides could not help them out, despite them cruising to a 32-0 win over Wigan on the final day of the season.
The Coach: Chris Chester
Chris Chester has again worked wonders at Trin this year, leading his side to a top half finish despite having one of the smallest budgets in the competition.
Highly respected by his peers, he only narrowly missed out on being crowned the 2017 Super League Coach of the Year.
Player of the Season: Jacob Miller
Despite missing a large chunk of the season with a broken leg, half-back Miller was a key part of Trinity’s brilliant season, with his brilliant creative flair adding that little extra in the danger areas.
Absent throughout June and July, Trin lost five of their seven fixtures without him and he had a big influence when he returned for the Super 8s. The Australian finished the campaign with 10 tries and 13 assists.

Game of the season: Wigan Away
It didn’t look like a memorable evening for Trin early doors as they slipped 20-0 behind within 20 minutes but Bill Tupou scored a stunning 11-minute hat-trick to put the visitors 22-20 up at the break.
Mason Caton-Brown, Danny Kirmond, Liam Finn and Jacob Miller were all also on the scoresheet on a hugely memorable night for Wakefield.
Try of the season: Ben Jones-Bishop v Huddersfield Giants
One of the tries of the entire Super League season, the winger picked up possession inside his own ten metres before breaking through the Huddersfield line – the job wasn’t done yet though.
He had to show great speed and agility to beat no fewer than six Giants men on an incredible 90m charge to the line.
