The 19-year-old Cunningham, who had a spell on dual registration with Sheffield Eagles in 2017, has signed a new contract with his home-town club but will spend the 2018 season on loan to the Centurions, where his father is now head of rugby after being sacked as St Helens coach last April.
Full-back Ricky Bailey, 20, who has made two Betfred Super League appearances for Saints, will join Cunningham at Leigh Sports Village for the 2018 Championship campaign.
