A hat-trick of tries from winger Mitch Brown inspired Leigh Centurions to their first home win in the Betfred Super League Super 8 Qualifiers against Halifax RLFC.

The Australian scored two tries in the first half before adding his third midway through the second at the Sports Village as the Centurions kept their hopes of avoiding the Million Pound Game alive with a dominant performance against the Championship side.
Brown's fellow winger James Clare chipped in with two tries as Leigh won 40-6, with Ben Reynolds, Harrison Hansen and Greg McNally also crossing over for the hosts as Reynolds and Josh Drinkwater added the extras.

Halifax, coached by former Centurions forward Richard Marshall, got off the mark three minutes before the break when prop Mitch Cahalane barged over from close range. Steve Tyrer kicked the conversion but the visitors failed to add anything extra in the second half.
Leigh coach Neil Jukes said: "There were some good improvements from us tonight. Our starts to both halves were really important in terms of dictating the pace of the game.
"Overall to concede just one try highlighted some defensive improvements and we proved that we have worked hard in the right areas. I thought we really worked hard for one another in defence."

Halifax assistant coach Simon Grix said: "It was a poor game for us. It has been tough against the full-time teams and it has taken its toll.
"The young boys stood up for us tonight and did really well - that was probably the highlight for us. They didn't take a backwards step."
