And celebrates by signing on Australian TV

Then on Thursday, George appeared on The NRL Footy Show, as he attempted to sing Frank Sinatra’s ‘Fly me to the moon.’

Not too bad, but probably best sticking to RL George!

Vossy’s flower passion

Legendary Australian Rugby League commentator Andrew Voss this week revealed what keeps him busy in between calling NRL and Super League games during the week – helping out at his wife’s floristry business.

The business was set up 18 months ago and Voss helps out as a flower buyer and delivery boy, which involves a few early morning trips to the Sydney flower market.

“There are no shortcuts with floristry,” Voss told the Australian Daily telegraph. “When I get to the Sydney Flower Market at 5am, I need to know my ranunculus from my peonies, what’s good quality and what’s not. I’ve enjoyed learning all of that – it’s totally out of my skill set.”

England Youth defeat France

England Youth secured a 28-18 win over France Under-18s in the first of a two-Test series over the Easter weekend.

The Young Wall of White had to overcome a two-point deficit with 10 minutes on the clock, to secure victory at Newcastle Thunder’s Kingston Park.

Joshua Simm, Ritchie Westwood, Reece Hamlett, Tom Holroyd and Ben Dobson all scored in the win. The second match takes place on Tuesday at Castleford Tigers’ Mend-a-hose Jungle, with a 6pm kick-off.

Ireland domestic league strengthened

Ireland’s domestic Rugby League competition has been strengthened with the addition of two new teams, as Belfast Eagles and Galway Bay Pirates will join in open age competition.

"There is a feeling of nostalgia and progress for the upcoming season," said Ulster provincial official Steve Hogan.

“On top of the eight-team competition in the Republic of Ireland, there has been an upsurge of 150 per cent in competitive team numbers and, along with the Pirates, there may be further developments in the very near future in terms of additional non-competitive teams."
