Romain Navarrete joins London Broncos

London Broncos have acquired French International Romain Navarrete ahead of the 2021 Betfred Championship season.

Navarrete has over 80 Betfred Super League appearances to his name across spells with Catalans Dragons, Wigan Warriors and, most recently, Wakefield Trinity. The 26-year-old has also spent time with Hemel Stags and Swinton Lions.

In 2018, Navarrete became the first French player to feature in a Betfred Super League Grand Final helping Wigan overcome Warrington Wolves at Old Trafford.

On the move, Navarrete said: “I am very excited to have signed for London, after speaking with Danny and learning of the desire to get the club back to Super League, and I think with my new team mates we can do that.

“This will be a real challenge and it motivates me to deliver for Danny and the rest of the boys. I know a few of the players already and I am excited about getting started with them and settling in, as well as meeting the London fans when they can get back to the games.”

Broncos boss Danny Ward added: “We are delighted to have Romain on board with the Broncos for 2021.

“Props are certainly an area we’ve been looking to strengthen after losing Buttie [Rob Butler] and Big Norm [Dan Norman] and Romain is just what we’ve been looking for. He’s a quality middle with lots of experience at the top with Wigan, we can’t wait to get him over and start working with him in pre-season.”

Navarrete will link-up with former Wigan teammates Jarrod Sammut and Chris Hankinson at London.
