Daniel Richardson has been a huge sports enthusiast from a very young age, playing football from around five years old and still doing so now.
He played at a good standard after being selected for the Wigan Schoolboys team. Daniel is also a season ticket holder at Betfred Super League side Wigan Warriors and rarely misses a match.
After primary education, he moved to secondary and attended Cansfield High School from September 2008 'til June 2013.
He left with all his GCSEs, achieving one A in I.T, eight Bs and one C in Maths.
This then meant that he could attend his college of choice, St John Rigby College, where he went on to achieve a B in English Language and two Cs in P.E and Sociology at A level.
Currently, Daniel is studying BA Sports Journalism at UCLan.
After successfully completing his first year, he did a month's work experience at his local newspaper, the Wigan Observer, where he attended press conferences and interviews with the likes of Shaun Wane and Sam Tomkins.
As well as Rugby League, he also helped cover a lot of other sports, an example is the first piece he had published in the newspaper, which was based on the Paralympics.
During his first year, Daniel passed all assignments and also passed his shorthand module and now has the NCTJ 100 words a minute shorthand qualification.
In addition to this, Daniel has been part of the student radio and newspaper throughout his first year, covering one of the university football teams.
As part of his job, he sent live updates through to the radio and he has also appeared live on the student radio show when doing a roundup of all the teams.
Set apart from his university involvement, Daniel has been part of the FPLBet.com team, writing articles based on fantasy football, this meant he had to meet regular deadlines and deliver work of a high standard.
His weekly article involved a lot of work with statistics and provided up-to-date fixture and team news.
Daniel has also had a number of articles published on professional sports websites such as sportsmole.co.uk and Breathe Sport.
In addition to this, there are also Rugby League articles on his personal blog which have received numerous views.
Finally, as part of his university work, Daniel has interviewed Rugby League stars both past and present including Oliver Gildart, Darrell Goulding and Bill Ashurst.
After securing a placement with the RFL, he is looking forward to what lies ahead and is looking forward to covering university Rugby League plus other exciting events.
