Oldham climbed up to second in Betfred League 1 with a battling 28-20 victory over play-off rivals Newcastle Thunder.
With league leaders Whitehaven not playing this weekend, Thunder had the chance to cut the gap at the top to one point and started brightly when Quentin Laulu-Togaga'e, Connor Fitsimmons, Kieran Gill and Alexander Clegg put Newcastle in control after 31 minutes as they led 20-6,
However, the visitors troubled to threaten the scorers thereafter as Oldham hit back.
Kyran Johnson and Danny Bridge ensured they trailed 20-12 at the break before Cameron Leeming and Bridge's second try put the hosts ahead for the first time, with Gareth Owen sealing victory as they leapfrogged Thunder in the table.
Doncaster held onto fifth place following a last-gasp 23-22 win over London Skolars.
Both teams scored four tries apiece - with 2011 Man of Steel winner Rangi Chase on the scoresheet for the hosts and Guy Armitage grabbing a hat-trick for the visitors - as they looked to be heading towards a 22-22 draw.
However, Matty Beharrell landed a 77th-minute drop-goal to snatch the two points for Doncaster, which keeps them above Workington Town.
The Cumbrians ran in 11 tries as they maintained their play-off push with a 66-22 triumph over bottom-placed West Wales Raiders.
Jonathan Walsh, Gordon Maulding and Blain Marwood each scored twice, with Danny Tickle, Russ Bolton, Caine Barnes, Sean Penkywicz and Sam Hopkins also touching down in a one-sided victory.
Hunslet moved up to fourth in the League 1 table with a 32-10 success at Keighley Cougars, while North Wales Crusaders were 33-16 winners at home to Coventry Bears.
