York’s other tries came through Chris Siddons, Joe Batchelor (2), Brad Hey, Ryan Mallinder and Connor Robinson.

A last gasp try from Keighley Cougars’ Andy Gabriel denied Workington Town a Super 8s spot for now, as the pair drew 30-30 in Cumbria.

Theerapol Ritson’s 74th minute try appeared to have handed Town a 30-26 win after earlier tries from Joe Hambley (2), Gabriel Fell and Jamie Doran (2).

However Gabriel’s second score of the game, combined with efforts from Ritchie Hawkyard, Sean Kelly (2) and Adam Ryder saw Keighley hold onto eighth place ahead of the last round of normal season fixtures.

North Wales Crusaders are tied on 13 points with Keighley in ninth after they shared the spoils with a 12-12 draw against third placed Whitehaven.

Joseph Bate and Taylor Prell both scored tries for the hosts, with Jordan Burns crossing twice and Dion Aiye also going over for the Cumbrians.

Hunslet’s Super 8s hopes took a dent after suffering a 30-16 defeat at London Skolars on Saturday, leaving them in 10th and a point behind both Keighley and Crusaders.

Former Leeds Rhinos junior Joe Sanderson scored a hat-trick for the visitors, but Skolars were too strong, with Sam Nash (2), James Hill, Mike Bishay and Lamont Bryan crossing for them.

University of Gloucestershire All Golds are the only other side that can mathematically make the Super 8s with one game to go, but they suffered a 62-10 loss to runaway leaders Toronto Wolfpack on Saturday.

Ryan Burroughs, Craig Hall (2), Jonny Pownall, Richard Whiting, Rhys Jacks, Fui Fui Moi, Moi, Bob Beswick, Greg Worthington, Steve Crossley and Quentin Laulu-Togaga’e all crossing for the Canadians.

Finally, second-placed Barrow Raiders cruised to an 801-0 win over Oxford, with Eze Harper bagging a hat-trick for the Cumbrians.
