Rovers reinvent a classic for 2019

Hull Kingston Rovers have tonight revealed the clubs 2019 away jersey to be worn in the 2019 Betfred Super League.The shirt is inspired by an absolute classic and iconic Hull KR shirt, which rose to fame in the late 1970s and early 1980s and was worn for a number of high profile games including BBC Floodlit final victory over St Helens in 1977.

Once again, the shirt is supplied by XBlades and sponsored by MotorDepot with AC Enviro, EasyBuy LTD, FTP Electrical Testing LTD, Archbishop Sentamu Rugby League Scholarship Programme, RSV Building Plastics and Van Hire, Hirebase and Outbox also featuring on the shirt as sponsors. The shorts are once again sponsored by Steve Leaming Plant Hire with Blades Restaurants LTD being the sock sponsors.


The shirt was launched with a striking video charting a typical away day following the team on the road. Music for the track was provided by the local record label ‘Vibe Tribe’ which features many members of the popular Bud Sugar band.

The launch of this shirt has also been a first for the club, with the launch being done through social media and including no first team players for the first time. The campaign has taken some creative risks as the club look to continue bringing a fresh approach to things ahead of the new season.

Hull KR Head of Marketing, Craig Franklin commented “The challenge year on year is to always find new and fresh ways to present the club and engage with new audiences whilst recognising all those loyal supporters who have been with us for so long. I think we’ve demonstrated in the last few months our ability to freshen up the club in many areas, not least the exciting new KCOM Craven Park Fan Experience Zone, the new digital Rufus App Game KRazy Flight and the way we’ve presented the three 2019 kit launches.

“It’s very much front of mind at the moment for everyone at the club as we look to kick on in 2019 with energy and momentum. There’s more to come too with an exciting new craft beer launch nearing too which is a further part of this on-going strategy not to mention some initiatives to reduce the single use plastic footprint of the club.

“We are starting to see the green shoots in terms of a switch in our fans behaviours towards engaging with us more digitally, October was a record month for online sales at hullkr.co.uk/shop for example."

The away shirt is the third and final shirt for the 2019 season and completes a new look for the club, with a strong series of designs. With the home and Poppy Charity shirts already selling fast ahead of Christmas, this iconic shirt which has been reimagined for a new era is expected to be popular too.

The shirt is available to buy now from hullkr.co.uk/away and will be available from the City Centre Retail Store from 9am tomorrow morning, with prices and sizes being £47 for adults (size XS-6XL msens, size 8-20 ladies, £36 for juniors (6yrs-14rs) and £32 for toddlers (age 0-4).
