The former Melbourne Grand-Final winner, who turns 34 in October, is in the final season of his three-year contract but has missed only one of the Giants’ 22 league and cup matches so far this year and remains in the plans of coach Simon Woolford for 2019.
Woolford has so far signed prop Suaia Matagi from Parramatta, is close to completing the capture of Manly Sea Eagles winger Akuila Uate and still has an overseas quota spot he wants to fill.
“We’re still actively out there having a look,” Woolford said. “We’re just trying to shore up what positions we need to thicken up as far as our depth is concerned.
“Getting Matagi now, we’re pretty right with our middles and hopefully we get Uate over the line and that will mean our outside backs are looking nice and strong.
“We’ve still got a bit of money to spend and a spot to fill.
“We are probably looking at one more signing, maximum two, but we need to look at our roster and who’s off contract.
“We’ve still got Ryan Hinchcliffe and we want to keep him so we need to sort him. We’ll work through that over the next couple of weeks.”
