England Lions to launch Women's Programme

England Lions to launch Women's Programme

The England Community Lions have today confirmed the reintroduction of the Lions Women programme, following on from previous years where the Lionesses have featured within the Pankhurst cup and Festivals of World Cups.

The England Lions programme is designed to retain more players within the Community Game, as well as offer players once-in-a-lifetime playing and cultural experiences.

England Lions: Women will select amateur players from across the Women's Championship and League One who aren’t on the England Performance programmes. Players will participate in an East v West fixture, prior to a training squad being selected.

Speaking on the reintroduction of the England Lions: Women, Director of Participation and Development, Marc Lovering said: "The England Community Lions offer unique experiences for our community players, from touring and cultural opportunities to the opportunity to represent both county and country across the year.

"It is great to see us able to extend the programmes to produce a direct pathway for representational rugby within the community women's game, and we hope that with the introduction of the programmes, we will be able to encourage a greater retention of players across the community game.

"There are some very exciting opportunities coming up over the next 18 months for all the Lions programmes, and I cannot wait to see the impact the programme can have across the community game."

The Lions Women Programme are currently advertising for a Head Coach alongside two Assistant Coaches. More details on these positions can be found below:
