Woolston Rovers' Open Age Head Coach John Fieldhouse has stepped down from his position with immediate effect after just over three years in the role.
Club PRO Dave Whalley said: "John informed the lads of his decision when they returned from the Kingstone Press National Conference League Division Three victory at Gateshead Storm last Saturday.
"This was John's second spell at the club and the professional attitude along with the dedication to his role was unquestionable.
"Over the three years, John got the side into the play off places on each occasion but unfortunately we were unable to manage to gain promotion.
"The first year we lost in the play off semi final at Drighlington and then in the last two years we have been defeated in the play-off final, once by Drighlington and then last year agonizingly at Dewsbury Moor Maroons.
"We will now move forward and consider our options but will not rush into making an appointment.
"We need to make the right one that will benefit the club and enable us to build on the job that John has done.
"We are very fortunate to have Mal Holt, who was John's assistant with the NCL side, Andy Penny, our NWML coach and John Morris, Under 18s Head Coach already in position and they have been doing an excellent job and they will work together in the short term to ensure that it is business as usual for us.
"We are extremely grateful for everything that John did for us and we wish him all the very best for the future."
