James Roby became the first person to gain three points from the first two rounds of the new Betfred Super League Steve Prescott MBE Man of Steel awards, the awards are being chosen by a panel of 21 former players and coaches.
A member of the panel will watch each Betfred Super League game in 2019 and award points to the three outstanding players: 3 points for their chosen stand-out performer, two points for the runner-up, and 1-point for their third ranked player.
The scores will be made public every week, until Round 22 in mid-July. After that, the poll will be hidden until the Awards Ceremony in October.
Jamie Shaul was on the end of a defeat against Castleford Tigers, but his performance was enough for him to earn 3-points. Shaul made 175 metres at the KCom Stadium, averaging 14.58 metres a carry, he also assisted Jordan Lane’s try.
Mike Cooper grabbed himself a try in the final minutes of Warrington’s hard-fought victory over KR. The prop-forward made 33 tackles and 99 metres in The Wire’s 28-14 win at the Halliwell Jones.
George Williams put in one of the performances of the round, he guided Wigan to victory against Leeds. He notched a try and assisted another two tries as Wigan Warriors beat Leeds 34-16 at the DW Stadium.
A home debut for the former Widnes Vikings player, Whitley put in a solid defensive performance and was a threat throughout the 80 minutes. Whitley made 126 metres and 19 tackles at the Stade Gilbert Brutus as Catalans won 27-10.
Salford Red Devils continued their 100% start as they beat London Broncos 24-0 at the AJ Bell Stadium. It was their star man Jackson Hastings who picked up three points for his performance at the weekend. His stats; one try, three try assists, 20 tackles, 10 attacking kicks, 151 metres, and four goals.
Another impressive performance sees the hooker pick-up another 3 Man of Steel points to add to his tally. 103 metres and 44 tackles helped inspire Saints to a 24-18 victory against a Wakefield side that lost to London Broncos in Round One.
