Adam Walker signs for Leigh Centurions

Leigh Centurions have confirmed the signing of Scotland International Adam Walker until the end of the 2021 season.

Walker featured for Salford Red Devils in last year’s Betfred Super League Grand Final defeat to St Helens and played a pivotal role on route to Old Trafford appearing on 26 occasions and scoring four tries.

The 29-year-old has represented Scotland on ten occasions and enjoyed four seasons at Hull Kingston Rovers between 2013 and 2016 alongside stints with Huddersfield Giants, St Helens and Wakefield Trinity.

Walker said: “I feel I play my best rugby for coaches who know my game and John Duffy certainly knows all about me from when we’ve worked together at Scotland.

“Leigh are a good club with a great fanbase and I’m looking forward to eventually playing in front of their supporters.

“This feels like the right move for me and I have a lot of respect for the owner Derek Beaumont who I know to be a good guy from when my brother Jonny was there.

“Watching the games recently with the return of Super League has really made me want to get out there again and it’s quite frustrating for a player when you’re itching to be on the field.

“I am looking forward to playing for John regularly, he’s a Coach I rate highly and someone who played the game to a high standard.”

Leigh Centurions Head Coach, John Duffy, said: “In my eyes, when Adam is on his game, he is a top end Super League quality player.

“He knows the game inside and out and his performances for me in a Scotland shirt were absolutely top quality, especially against Australia and New Zealand.”
