Widnes Vikings are seeking to make it two wins from two in the Betfred Championship as they travel out to face Toulouse Olympique XIII on Saturday.
After coming so close to making the Million Pound Game in 2018, hosts Toulouse started their new campaign with defeat, at the hands of Championship ‘Dark Horses’ Leigh Centurions last weekend.
After a disappointing start, the French side will be keen to notch their first win of the campaign but Vikings utility player Sam Wilde is confident of Widnes’ chances.
“Everyone’s in good spirits (after last weekend’s win) and it gives you confidence because to go and beat a good Halifax team like we did, will give anyone confidence,” he told widnesvikings.co.uk.
“They’re a really good side Toulouse and they showed that in the Super 8s last year so everyone is going to have to be on their game tomorrow because it will be a tough one.”
When the sides last met out in the South of France last September in the Super 8s Qualifiers, Toulouse ran out 42-22 winners, a result which all but condemned Widnes’ relegation from Super League.
After defeat at Leigh last week, Halifax’s search for their first win of the campaign continues as they host Leigh Centurions, in the pick of Sunday’s six fixtures.
Toronto Wolfpack opened up their 2019 season with a hard-earned victory at York last weekend. They travel to Rochdale Hornets in a game which is live on Sky Sports Arena from 3pm.
