England Watch | Super League Preview

With the Rugby League World Cup just a few months away, we look at the England squad members who are set to be in action across the Betfred Super League this weekend.

Friday: Castleford Tigers v Huddersfield Giants – 8:00 PM – Live on Sky Sports

Paul McShane will be looking to retain his spot at hooker in the England side after facing the Combined Nations All Stars. McShane has been named in Lee Radford’s 21-man squad to face Huddersfield on Friday afternoon.

Saturday: Hull FC v Leeds Rhinos - 3:00 PM

Leeds prop Mikolaj Oledzki is set to feature for Rohan Smith’s Leeds Rhinos as they travel to Hull on Saturday afternoon. The Rhinos will be looking to bounce back from their defeat against St Helens last weekend.

Saturday: Catalans Dragons v St Helens – 6:00 PM – Live on Sky Sports

When Catalans host St Helens it could have a strong England theme running through for both sides.

Steve McNamara named both Sam Tomkins and Michael McIlorum in his side. Both will be looking to be on the scoresheet as Tomkins and McIlorum crossed for their first tries of the Betfred Super League season last weekend against Castleford.

Mike McMeeken will not feature on Saturday, after he was not selected for the 21-man squad due to an injury suffered last weekend.

All five of the St Helens players, who feature against the Combined All Stars are in contention for Saturday’s match. Prop, Alex Walmsley, will be looking to follow up his two try scoring performance last weekend. Fellow forward, Joe Batchelor, will also be looking to continue his try scoring form from last weekend. Jack Welsby, Matty Lees and Tommy Makinson all are named in Kristian Woolf’s side.

Saturday: Toulouse Olympique v Hull KR – 8:00 PM

No England players will feature during the Toulouse v Hull KR match. Winger, Ryan Hall, misses out after suffering a rib injury last weekend against Huddersfield, which forced him off the field in the first half.

Sunday: Wakefield Trinity v Wigan Warriors – 3:00 PM

England internationals, John Bateman and Liam Farrell are set to feature on Sunday as Wigan Warriors travel to Wakefield. Farrell has been in good form this year having scored his 10th try of the Betfred Super League last week.

Sunday: Warrington Wolves v Salford Red Devils – 3:00 PM

Daryl Powell is expected to name some of the England internationals, who featured at the Halliwell Jones Stadium just two weeks ago. Stefan Ratchford will be hoping for another good performance after he scored all four points last weekend. George Williams and Mike Cooper could both feature.

New loan signing, Jake Wardle, could make his Warrington debut. The centre scored on his England debut against the Combined Nations All Stars.

Joe Philbin will not feature for the remainder of the season. The prop suffered an ACL injury, which will rule him out for the rest of the 2022 season.

For Salford, Kallum Watkins, could feature. After making his return to the England side two weeks ago, Watkins was back on the scoresheet for Salford during their emphatic 74-10 victory over Wakefield last Sunday.
