Betfred League One Round-Up | Saturday

Cornwall won for the first time ever earlier today as they saw off West Wales Raiders 24-4 away from home.

The newcomers had lost their first 11 games in Betfed League One but ground a out a comfortable win in Llanelli to break their duck in a memorable afternoon.

Harry Aaronson set the tone for a successful day as he scored inside a minute before he notched a second on 11 minutes for an 8-0 lead.

Liam Whitton was next to go over, Jamie Prisk adding the goal for a 14-0 advantage. Ben Jackson struck back for West Wales just before half time to make it 14-4.

That was as close as the home side got though as a Joe Purcell try and Whitton's second in the final quarter rounded things off. Purcell converted Whitton's try and that proved to be the final score of the game.

Elsewhere in Betfred League One, Rochdale Hornets continued their impressive 2022 campaign with a 32-24 win at Hunslet, their eighth win of the season.

They flew out of the blocks from kick off and tries from Gregg McNally, Aiden Roden and Rob Worrincy, plus two Lewis Sheridan goals, gave them a 16-0 lead.

Hunslet got on the board through a Jimmy Watson try, converted by Jake Sweeting, just before half time for a 16-6 scoreline.

Zac Baker and Paul Brearley then improved things for Rochdale with a try each before the hour mark, Sheridan adding two more goals. Cobi Green was Rochdale's last tryscorer on 68 minutes.

Hunslet did register second half tries through Oli Burton, Harvey Hallas and Jack Render, but it wasn't enough despite Sweeting also striking four goals from four attempts.

Finally, Swinton Lions held off a fightback from London Skolars to win 48-22 away from home and remain in second place.

The Lions led 30-8 at half time, built upon an impressive first 20 minutes which saw tries for Mike Butt, Mitch Cox, Jayden Hatton and Max Roberts.

Dan Abram kicked four of his eventual eight goals on the day for a 24-0 lead with just a quarter of the match played. Abram then scored himself on the half hour mark for 30-0, but a try each for Aaron Small and Abevia Macdonald restored some pride before the break for Skolars.

Small scored again just after the restart but a double for Swinton substitute Patrik Jones and a late try from Richard Lepori secured the points.

Macdonald did impressively complete his hat-trick in the second half and Thorman ended his days work with three goals but it wasn't enough in the end.
