The Wolfpack led 14-0 at the break courtesy of Gareth O'Brien's second-minute try on Saturday, which he converted himself, and Chase Stanley's effort later in the half.
Rovers made inroads into Toronto's lead early in the second half, with Jack Ormondroyd bursting through several tackles before touching down for his side's first try in the 43rd minute and Will Dagger adding the extras.
But Toronto responded five minutes later, extending their lead courtesy of Ricky Leutele after good work from O'Brien.
Josh Walters closed the gap for Featherstone once again in the 55th minute as his try and Dagger's conversion made it 18-12.
The hosts stamped their authority on the game as Josh McCrone went over 15 minutes before the end, only for debutant Connor Jones to cut the gap to four points with his converted try in the 71st minute but Toronto held on to win the game.
