Warrington Wolves 40-26 Hull KR

Warrington Wolves survived a second-half revival by Hull KR to claim a hard-earned 40-26 victory that stretched their winning run to six Betfred Super League games.

The Wolves appeared to be coasting as they led 22-2 at half-time but the Robins scored three tries in nine minutes after the restart to cut the deficit to just two points and set up a frantic last half an hour.

But the Wolves steadied the ship and tries from Tom Lineham, Stefan Ratchford and Ryan Atkins saw them to a win which kept them third in the table.

Ratchford finished with a personal tally of 16 points as he also added six conversions, while Jack Hughes claimed two tries for the home side with others coming from Mike Cooper and Ben Currie.

Hull KR, who were rocked by an early injury to captain Shaun Lunt, scored through Maurice Blair, James Donaldson, Chris Atkin and Danny McGuire with Ryan Shaw kicking five goals.

Warrington coach Steve Price said: "That's what good teams do, find a way to get it done and we did that today.

"I was disappointed with our start to the the game, especially with our intent and attitude of what we wanted to display, and to come out in the second half and see them score some quick tries was disappointing.

"But, good teams find a way and I'm proud of the guys for managing to do that. We didn't panic and stayed at it with our gameplan and racked up 40 points."

On Lunt, Rovers coach Tim Sheens said: "Shaun has ruptured knee ligaments and clinically it's three months which is the initial diagnosis but he will go for a scan on Monday.

"Together with Danny McGuire he has made such a difference at the club and to the team with his general play so it's a major blow for us."
