University Origin train-on squads announced


The North and South train-on squads for University Origin 2018 have been confirmed.

From Bedfordshire University in the south, through to Northumbria University in the north, 23 Universities will be represented across both sides.

Reigning BUCS Champions Northumbria boast four members of the North team, but it's Ladbrokes Challenge Cup entrants the University of Hull who dominate the squad with six members.

Meanwhile, the upwardly-mobile Coventry University outfit boast an impressive seven members of the South squad, as the University of Gloucestershire provide six members of the team, alongside four players from Loughborough University.

The North Head Coach has also been named as UCLan's Andy Proctor - assisted by Adam Houston from Northumbria University and Bradford University boss Matt Airey.

And the South boss will be Ben Whincup of the University of Gloucestershire, with assistant coaches Mark Sloan from the Midlands, and South East-based John Issacs.

The University Origin match will take place on Saturday, February 3 at Loughborough University, 7pm kick off, and is the next stage of the selection process ahead of England Universities' Four Nations campaign next year.
