Betfred League One Preview | Round 3

Cornwall will play their first-ever home match on Sunday as they welcome Midlands Hurricanes to Penryn, 3pm kick off.

In a fixture shown live on Our League, the home side will be looking for their first-ever win as they look to build on the 62-22 loss they recorded at North Wales in their first-ever match. Over 1,000 tickets have been sold for the historic tie, with will he hosted at Penryn RFC's Memorial Ground home.

They will face a determined Midlands side who are on the lookout for their first win of the season. Their first match since rebranding from Coventry Bears saw a high scoring 48-20 loss at Doncaster, followed by a 54-16 home reverse to one of the pre-season favourites for promotion in Swinton Lions.

Elsewhere, London Skolars will tackle North Wales Crusaders on Saturday. Skolars were edged out 28-10 by Hunslet at home in round one ahead of a bye last weekend and will be keen to secure their first points of 2022.

In opposition, North Wales have won their first two games of the season, first edging out Rochdale 36-34 away from home, followed by their entertaining win over Cornwall last time. Can they make it three from three?

On Sunday, Doncaster and Swinton go head-to-head in a heavyweight League One clash which will put Swinton's unbeaten record in 2022 to the test. Swinton have seen off West Wales and Midlands so far but will know they are in for something of a sterner test this time.

Doncaster lost 26-6 at an impressive Keighley side last weekend and will be aiming to bounce back from that disappointment as they look to showcase their play-off credentials again.

Oldham are looking for their first win of the 2022 season and will hope to get it as they host winless West Wales Raiders on Sunday.

The former Super League and Championship club suffered a 32-6 loss Keighley in round one but their fortunes improved last week as they picked up a 22-all draw away at Hunslet.

West Wales are bottom of the early table following back-to-back defeats at the hands of Swinton Lions and then showed signs of improvement in a 52-12 reverse at home to Rochdale after a challenging off-season - they took the lead in the match and only faced a 16-6 deficit at the mid-way point

Finally, Rochdale Hornets will be looking to make it two wins from their first three games as they host Hunslet.

The Hornets were edged out by just two points at home to North Wales in round one, followed by their win at West Wales last time - can they make it two wins in a row?

Hunslet will be looking to stretch their unbeaten record to three matches after a start to the season which has seen a 28-10 win at London Skolars, then a hard-fought home draw with Oldham last week.
