2021 UK TAG Nationals | Preview

The third Try Tag Rugby UK Tag Nationals will take place at Kings House Sports Ground, Chiswick, London on Saturday 2nd October.

Held for the first time in 2018, the UK Tag Nationals brings together teams from each of the different Try Tag Rugby regions around the UK to battle it out to see which region will be crowned the UK Tag National Champions.

With the 2020 UK Tag Nationals cancelled and a clean sweep for London Regions in 2019, 2021 is set to be an exciting shot at redemption for regional teams, particularly Yorkshire [2019 mixed and men’s finalists] and Bristol [3rd in the mixed], who made great strides in 2019 and only narrowly missed out on Tag glory. Since then, regional Leagues have grown in numbers and experience across the board, raising the question: Will London Regions reign supreme for a third year running?

2019 Results:

  • Mixed winners: South London (6-2 win over Yorkshire)
  • Men’s winners: North London (2-0 win over Yorkshire)
  • Women’s winners: South London (3-1 win over West London)

This year’s event will see 32 teams from 10 regions competing across mixed, men’s and women’s categories. After combining with Manchester in 2019, the competition welcomes two standalone Wigan teams (Mixed and Men’s). The event also sees its first ever invitational team, with the TagBoks UK team competing in the mixed category.

All categories will see a pool stage, followed by positional play offs, quarter finals, semi- finals and finals.

The full list of competing regions is:

– Bristol Brabazons (Mixed, Men’s and Women’s) – Coventry & Warwickshire Hurricanes (Mixed, Men’s and Women’s) – East London Eels (Mixed x2, Men’s and Women’s) – Manchester Worker Bees (Mixed, Men’s and Women’s) – North London Nighthawks (Mixed, Men’s and Women’s) – South London Seals (Mixed x2, Men’s and Women’s) – Thames Valley Titans (Mixed, Men’s and Women’s) – Wigan Wizards (Mixed and Men’s) – Yorkshire White Roses (Mixed, Men’s and Women’s) – TagBoks UK Invitational Team (Mixed).

For 2021, players from the new Sheffield League are eligible to compete as part of Yorkshire.
