New ‘Enjoy the Game’ materials and videos for Community Clubs

New ‘Enjoy the Game’ materials and videos for Community Clubs

The game-wide ‘Enjoy the Game’ campaign continues with free materials and new Enjoy the Game promotional videos being issued across the community game for use by all community clubs and leagues.

'Enjoy the Game' stresses the importance of Respect at all levels of the sport, with an emphasis on creating positive experiences.

It is a single, clear and proactive message across Betfred Super League, Betfred Championship and League One; Coral Challenge Cup; and the community game; from the referees' jerseys, big screens and match day programmes; to clubhouse posters, videos and training packs. The campaign is supported by players and clubs at all levels and in all areas.

Ralph Rimmer, RFL CEO: "We have some positive and encouraging touchlines in community Rugby League and some of the best volunteers in sport. We also know that our 12-18 Review highlighted some areas for continued attention.

46% of parents of children playing said they least enjoyed the behaviour of parents and volunteers; 54% of volunteers said the same and 25% of young players currently playing said they least enjoyed the behaviour of parents and volunteers.

The 'Enjoy the Game' campaign was central to the season launch and features in everything we do.

Playing and officiating Rugby League at any level should be an enjoyable experience. We all want to encourage and retain young players and match officials. As the new videos show, we are listening to our young people who say that adults shouting and swearing at them and each other at Rugby League games makes them feel sad, scared, embarrassed and frustrated.

"We all have a role to play. Lots of clubs are going the extra mile to create welcoming places to play but there is more to do which is why this a rolling campaign.

"We want to support clubs with these new videos plus the free posters, banners, and social media materials they need to spread the word. Training is also available for clubs who know they would benefit from additional support. Look out too for new rewards for clubs which address negative behaviours and promote a great touchline.”
