Official Match Report

Warrington Wolves came back from 12-0 down at half-time to sweep aside an injury-decimated Hull FC 30-12.

The Wolves looked to be suffering a hangover from their Magic Weekend defeat when they trailed to first-half tries from Dean Hadley and Mickey Paea.

Jake Connor kicked both goals for a Hull side denied the services of 10 senior players due to injury and suspension.

But the Wolves responded to coach Steve Price’s interval pep talk and ran amok in the second period.

Harvey Livett took Kevin Brown’s pass and scored a try which he converted to halve the deficit and the scores were level on 52 minutes when Brown ran the ball on the last tackle and squeezed through the visitors' defence.

Ben Murdoch-Masila barged over to give Warrington the lead before Josh Charnley scored the 199th try of his career and Ryan Atkins added another, with Livett converting each score.

The match was played in good spirits, but was marked by an allegation of biting made by Warrington captain Chris Hill against Hull’s French winger Hakim Miloudi, which referee Gareth Hewer put on report.

Price said he read some works from 19th century English poet Ebenezer Elliott to his players during the interval.

He said: "I read a poem from Ebenezer Elliott. I can’t say what it was, it’s something different, a one-off.

"The boys went out there and executed the game plan. That’s what I expect from a Warrington Wolves team.

"It was a horrendous first half – at one stage we were completing at 22 per cent – but that second half is what we’re all about. It was a great display of football."

Hull coach Lee Radford said: “I’m very proud of them. I thought for the first 40 minutes we played as well as we possibly could have and in the second half we ran out of juice.

“The positives to take out of tonight was the performance of the young kids. It was great for Cameron Scott to go up against Ryan Atkins because I’m pretty sure Cam wants to reach the same dizzy heights as Ryan."
