Drighlington Rugby League Club will be supporting SSAFA the armed forces charity when they take on the Cumbrian side Askam, in the National Conference League Divison 2, on Saturday 30th June 2.30pm on their pitch 'The Battlefelds.'
Not only is Saturday Armed Forces Day, but is also the actual 375th anniversary of the Battle of Adwalton Moor, where the royalists defeated the parliamentarians during the English Civil Wars on and around the present day pitch.
Members of the Royal British Legion will be attending, and all ex-service personnel are invited.
A contingent of musketeers from the English Civil War Society will re a volley to start and end a minute's applause before the game kicks off.
Drighlington Under 10s will be playing a curtain raiser against Normanton Knights at 1pm, and there will be a BBQ and refreshments along with various stalls.
It is hoped the Lord of the Manor, Malcolm Dickinson, who is a keen supporter of SSAFA will be in attendance to meet the players.
