NCL round-up | Mont claim bragging rights

Last week provided an intriguing weekend of NCL action - here we round-up this weekend's results from across the competition.

Premier Division | Kells 14-20 Egremont Rangers

Egremont remain six points shy of table-topping Hunslet Club Parkside after earning a hard-fought victory at Kells.

The Gainford brothers, Ross and Grant, were influential for Kells as Ross notched both a try and a goal whilst younger sibling Grant grabbed a brace.

Despite their impact, Egremont weren't to be denied victory as Fraser McNee, Matthew Henson and Jonathon Stoddart crossed over before the reliable Matthew Bewsher landed four conversions.

Kells prop Ross Ainley suffered a suspected leg break during the contest, an injury that has resulted in an overwhelming response from the Rugby League family.

Division 1 | Ince Rose Bridge 28-22 Oulton Raiders

Ince Rose Bridge picked up their second-successive win after triumphing 28-22 over fellow strugglers Oulton Raiders at Pinfold Street.

Tries from Peter Valentine, Daniel Cassidy, Jack Morrison, Kieron Eccleston and Calum Hughes combined with Bradley Smith’s four conversions ensured Ince Rose secured their third win of the campaign.

Division 2 | Hunslet Warriors 24-27 Stanningley

Stanningley preserved their lead at the top of the Division 2 table after Ben Selby's last-minute try rescued the league leaders from defeat at local rivals Hunslet Warriors.

Despite racing into a 16-0 lead thanks to tries from Ryan Taylor, Selby and Niall Murphy, Stanningley almost succumbed to defeat as the hosts produced a stunning fightback to register a 24-23 lead.

Unfortunately for Hunslet, their neighbours snatched two points from the grasp of their hands as Murphy touched down to claim his double, Callum Smithson added a drop goal before Selby dived over at the death to snatch a dramatic victory.

Division 3 | Waterhead Warriors 48-20 Gateshead Storm

Waterhead Warriors cruised to their third victory of the season after easing past Gateshead Storm 48-20 at Waterhead Park.

Harry Maders and Matthew Fogarty eached claimed two tries apiece whilst Daniel Murphy, Kegan Brennan, James Perk and Ross Crawford also crossed over to secure a stunning win for Oldham-based 'Head.

The visitors did manage to rack up 20 points but six goals from Jack Pemberton put the result beyond any doubt.
