The 2017 Kingstone Press National Conference League season gets underway tomorrow, and reigning NCL Player of the Year Shaun Garrod can't wait to get started.
"We just want to do the same again," he told rugby-league.com, while representing the National Conference League at the 2017 Season Launch last month.
"We want to win the league, we want to win the Grand Final. That's what all our pre-season efforts are geared towards - that big period in October.
"If we can do it again, we'll be really happy - that's going to be the ultimate aim for us."
Garrod, 28, is captain of the double-winning Siddal side which won a host of fans in their remarkable 14-6 loss against Toronto Wolfpack in the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup last weekend.
His side have set the benchmark for community clubs after a stunning 2016, when they finished six points clear at the top of the NCL Premier Division and won the NCL Grand Final by a record margin when they overcame Leigh Miners Rangers 42-4 last November.
Garrod's Siddal side entertained an audience of over 40,000 people in their game against Toronto Wolfpack
Siddal kick off their title defence with a trip to Pilkington Recs tomorrow, just a week after the historic Toronto clash
"It was a surprise that we won so convincingly in the Grand Final," said Garrod.
"They just pipped us to both titles in 2015, so we were a hugely motivated side, but it was a game where everything just worked for us.
"We just got in front and never stopped.
"It's a big year ahead for us," he added.
"The Challenge Cup always gives us a great platform to prepare ourselves for the league campaign, but we know it's going to be tough.
"We're the champions and everyone will want to knock us off - it's up to us to raise our game again to make sure that doesn't happen.
"We’re a motivated bunch, with plenty of experience, and we're quite fortunate that a lot of us have played together for a number of years.
"But, whenever the season comes around, no matter how long you've been playing for, it's something you can't help but get excited about - we're all buzzing for the new season to start."
Siddal kick off their 2017 Kingstone Press National Conference League campaign with a trip to St Helens' Pilkington Recs tomorrow (March 4), with their first home game coming next Saturday (March 11), when they play host to Skirlaugh from Hull at CWC Park.
Siddal are one of the country's leading sports clubs, hosting over 400 players from under 6s, to three Open Age (16+) teams and a Masters (35+) side. For more information, click HERE.
